Our Story

Optical Panacea, by definition, is the cure for difficulty seeing. While some people have perfect vision, others must use corrective lenses to see clearly. However neither will help your eye keep up with the fast pace of world-class athletes when they’re competing at their peak levels. A moment in time offers perspective that is otherwise lost in the speed of motion.

From its inception, Optical Panacea has had one goal: capture high-speed athletic performance as beautifully unique photography art, adding perspective that’s otherwise lost in real time.

Optical Panacea consists of cutting edge, composition art that blends the imagery of a background photo with a series of action shots of an athlete. Creating the artwork through the merging of these two images composes a distinctive story. Optical Panacea is iconic imagery of subjects in motion, and this photographic storytelling is one of a kind.

Created by visionary photographer Sam Hon of Honfoto and UFC star Urijah Faber, Optical Panacea features athletes outside of how we normally experience them, capturing the grace within the power of their movement. The resulting images invoke new emotions and thought.

Sam Hon has a unique skill of photo manipulation and image compiling that’s ideally suited for the high-energy style of photography he creates, having professional athletes and celebrities as his subjects. He began honing his craft during a summer internship that took him from UCLA to the Westin Shanghai Hotel in China. He served as Creative Director for the hotel’s advertising campaigns, newsletters, and fashion shoots, and soon after he was placed in charge of a television commercial for the hotel that aired on CNN Asia. His career continued with shooting a video for the band The Ataris, then riding high with their hit Boys of Summer. He was then hired to accompany the band on their European tour as their official photographer.

Sam’s innovative style of image compilation, which converts a single photograph or a series of images into one expanded cohesive mural, has become his signature. You have undoubtedly seen Sam’s iconic work on the Las Vegas strip. His unique visual style has garnered the attention of Las Vegas nightclubs such as Tao, Tao Beach, Lavo and Marquee. His work can be seen in magazines and on taxis and billboards all over the Las Vegas skyline. While in Vegas, Sam met Urijah Faber. Urijah was impressed with Sam’s work and began to introduce him to other fighters. Sam quickly became known as the preeminent photographer on the MMA scene. Sam and Urijah then launched Optical Panacea, combining the world of digital art with Mixed Martial Arts.

Sam’s creativity and imagination in artistic photography sets him apart from any other popular gallery artist known worldwide. Optical Panacea has attracted the attention of the biggest names in professional sports and celebrities and most recently finalized his print with iconic basketball player Michael Jordan. Sam spends his life traveling the world, visiting the most exotic places and spends time with the biggest sports and Hollywood celebrities in his spare time. His magical artistic ability is quickly becoming known worldwide and soon his dream of Optical Panacea being a household name will come true.

Urijah Faber is one of the most dynamic fighters to ever compete in mixed martial arts and has become a globally recognized fan favorite. Before Zuffa (UFC) bought WEC in 06′ they decided to combine the two organizations in 2012, Urijah enjoyed unparalleled success with WEC, as the six-time world champion of his weight class. When people think of the “California Kid”, his impressive speed and athleticism come to mind. His career in MMA has been quite impressive, and he doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. Currently ranked #2 in the World in the UFC he has his sights set on becoming the UFC World Champion. Urijah has many successful businesses that he runs daily that keep him busy between his world championship bouts.

He co-founded Optical Panacea in 2009 to capture the art in mixed martial arts, and he’s worked hard with his team to bring it to fruition. The explosive growth that Optical Panacea is currently experiencing is partly due to his passion for people as well as his desire to show his expression worldwide. Faber is multi-talented, with his entrepreneurial aptitude matching his world class MMA expertise.

Optical Panacea’s CEO Bryan Lindsey has been successfully utilizing his business skills to build companies both domestically and internationally for nearly 20 Years. He began his career in business operations in the restaurant world by growing the largest theme restaurant chain in the world. He then teamed up with Lorenzo Fertitta in building Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant Group in the late 90′s, until Gordon Biersch was sold. Staying with the Fertitta family, he moved to Las Vegas and joined Station Casinos at the beginning of its massive growth phase. He quickly worked his way up the ranks to becoming one of the youngest Presidents in the company, one of the top performing Casino Resorts in their portfolio.

As Bryan’s entrepreneurial spirit began to grow over the years, a flourishing group of companies has emerged. His companies span the globe from North America to China, Japan, Brazil, Europe, and the South Pacific. His companies are in many sectors ranging from non-profit youth organizations to retail clothing, nutrition and consumable products, as well as leadership training & development. Bryan is passionate about people. His true motivating factor is empowering people to recognize their true potential and realize that they can achieve anything that they set their mind to.

Bryan is excited about Optical Panacea because he sees the amazing artistic talent in photographer Sam Hon. His mission as CEO of Optical Panacea is to provide an unforgettable experience by giving people a perspective of athletic beauty through the eyes of Sam Hon that is captured in his unique and unprecedented art pieces.
